Mason bees
Mason bees are solitary, non-stinging bees, easy to keep, with a short life cycle and are great pollinators.
The Mason bees set-up kits cost around £75 but once established there is just a small annual fee and you really have to do very little once the new seasons eggs arrive in the post. Simply put them in the hatching box and leave nature to do the rest.
The hatching box and egg laying tubes need to be close together and if you have a wild flowering meadow nearby and one or more flowering fruit trees, then all you need to do is sit back and watch these busy bees in action.
