Biodiversity project sites in the Kenton area

Planning and progress

Our list of proposed biodiversity public spaces in the Kenton area are as follows;

  1. The walled garden area on the Woodgrange side of Woodcock Park next to St.Lukes Hospice. This used to be called ‘The Rose Garden’. We are planning to develop this into a biodiversity garden with a range of flowering plants, bushes and trees which will attract pollinators.
  2. Lindsay Drive roundabout which is unique in having a river running through it – the Wealdstone Brook. It needs urgent attention and is an ideal area to develop biodiversity ideas.
  3. Tookey Close Open Space which is designated a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation of SINC for short. Again, there is plenty of potential to develop this space with wild flowering meadow and lots of flowering fruit trees. It is right next to Fryent Country Park.
  4. The banks of the Wealdstone Brook from Woodcock Park through to Preston Hill. A blue wildlife corridor with lots of potential for biodiversity improvements. This is another designated SINC and needs urgent work to improve its biodiversity potential.
